Business Concept

A.C.S. International is the exclusive agent or distributor of several manufacturers of aroma chemicals and essential oils (mostly from Asia and Eastern Europe) in the European and US market. In this function, the company is acting as the sales force of their principals. Sales to customers are effected either by A. C. S. International from one of their European and US warehouses or directly by the principals of the company.

History

A.C.S. International GmbH was founded on May 1, 2004, and A.C.S. International Inc. was incorporated in January 2006 as a wholly owned subsidiary of the German parent company. The products of the company are sold to more than 130 customers all over the world.

Sales and Distribution Network

A.C.S. International (ACSI) operates 6 warehouses in Europe, which are located in Holzminden and Hamburg (Germany), Grasse (France), Alicante (Spain), Milan (Italy), and Liège (Belgium).
A.C.S. International Inc. keeps stocks at a warehouse in Piscataway, New Jersey. The company has distribution agreements with partners in the U.K., Italy, Croatia, Japan, Singapore, China and Latin America.

People

A.C.S. International GmbH is owned and managed by Dr. Horst Finkelmeier and Michel Specklin, two professionals with an experience of more than 25 years each in the flavour and fragrance industry. The U.S. business is run by Lon Newton, an industry veteran, who worked at IFF and H&R/Symrise before joining the company as President and CEO of A.C.S. International Inc.

Dr. Horst Finkelmeier (German) is a Ph.D. chemist, who joined Haarmann & Reimer’s R&D department in 1979. After several years in R&D, he became responsible for marketing of aroma chemicals and cosmetic ingredients at H&R Corp. in New Jersey. After his return to Germany he was responsible for global sales and marketing of aroma chemicals and cosmetic ingredients, before taking over the leadership of the ACC Division and later on also the Fragrance Division of H&R. After the merger with Dragoco and the formation of Symrise he was President of the Aroma Chemicals Divison until his departure from Symrise at the end of 2003.

Michel Specklin (French) studied Business Administration and Marketing in France and joined H&R in 1973. After several years in export sales in Europe and Africa, he worked as President of H&R Japan and President of H&R/Florasynth in France. After his return to Germany he joined the Aroma Chemicals Division and was, until 2003, responsible for global sales of aroma chemicals.
